About Shia

Have you read about the Shia history?

We have all heard the terms Shia.
Let us read further to understand the Shia Muslims and know more about Shia Islam as well.
We will tell you all about it in detail.

God is the creator of the universe and everything in it, seen and unseen. After creating humans and settling them on Earth, God gave them intellect to distinguish between good and evil. To guide them in the right path and prevent deviation, God chose individuals from among humans as messengers and prophets.

They were sent by the Almighty, with the first prophet being Prophet Adam and the last being Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them).

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was appointed as a prophet by God approximately 609 years after the birth of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him). He brought Islam as the final and most complete religion for all mankind.

From the beginning of promoting and teaching the Islam, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) introduced Imam Ali (peace be upon him) as his successor and representative to the people. Over a period of twenty-three years, the Messenger of God acquainted people with the teachings and etiquette of Islam through his good morals. He introduced the Quran as his everlasting miracle and the guidebook for human happiness. He also introduced his household as the true interpreters of the Quran and guides for the people.

Two months before his noble life ended, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gathered Muslims in the area of Ghadir Khumm and officially introduced Imam Ali (peace be upon him) as his successor. He took allegiance from all those present to accept Imam Ali (peace be upon him) as his successor. This marked the beginning of Shia, as the followers of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) were called Shia.

According to a famous hadith from the noble Prophet of Islam, he said:
“I am leaving among you two weighty things, if you hold fast to them, you will never go astray: the Book of Allah and my Ahlul Bayt (household). These two will never separate until they come to me at the Pool [of Kawthar].”

According to some verses of the Holy Quran, a Muslim has a duty to accept and act upon what the Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him and his household) received through revelation and introduced to people as religion.

In Surah Al-Hashr, verse 7, it is stated: “Whatever the Messenger has brought you, take it; and whatever he has forbidden you, refrain from it.”

It is clear that following the commandments of the sacred religion of Islam is not limited to the time of the noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his household), but it will continue until the Day of Judgment.

In the Holy Quran, Allah says that only those who are pure and cleansed can be followed. This means they are free from any mistakes, errors, and sins. This includes the Ahlul Bayt (household) of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his household).

In Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 33, it is stated: “Indeed, Allah desires to repel all impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you with a thorough purification.”

According to the beliefs of Shia and the narrations found in Sunni books, this verse is specifically referring to the Prophet, Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husain (peace be upon them).

According to Shia beliefs, after the departure of the Prophet, it is necessary to follow Imam Ali (peace be upon him) as the Imam and leader, as instructed by God and the Prophet, and to distance oneself from division and conflict.

In a hadith from the Prophet of Islam, which Shia and Sunni both believe in and have mentioned in their books, it is stated:

“There will be twelve Imams after me,

They will successively hold the leadership of the Islamic community.”

It should be noted that Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his noble reappearance) is the final Imam, who was born in 255 AH and is still alive but in occultation due to various reasons. Shia Muslims and all oppressed people in the world are awaiting his reappearance to save the world from injustice and tyranny.

Lastly, it is important to mention that Shia Muslims follow the religious rulings and issues according to the instructions of the Imams (peace be upon them), who themselves learned these rulings from the Prophet of Islam, who received them from the Almighty God.
